The 10 Commandments are among the most well known features of the scriptures. They stand today in a category all their own as a singularly unique, divinely originated code of laws that elevates all of humanity in a special way. Since God delivered the 10 Commandments to the Hebrew people through the Prophet Moses, the 10 Commandments have never ceased to revolutionize human life and government wherever they have been applied. They have simultaneously been the cornerstone of the nation of Israel and then of Western Civilization and government. Wherever the 10 Commandments have been embraced, human dignity has flourished, human government has leveraged greater and greater freedoms, and economic blessing and progress have been the norm. Every culture that has set the 10 Commandments aside has collapsed into violent and oppressive tyranny - including Israel. The 10 Commandments are among the most powerful revelations of God for mankind and have the power to transform entire cultures and individual persons who will faithfully embrace their instruction. The 10 Commandments stand at the nexus between blessings and curses.
