It's time for a new [kind of] resolution.

    The new year is an exciting time… it marks the end of the holidays season and we move the calendar one more year forward, this time to 2024. It compels us to think about the future, and perhaps wonder what the days, weeks, and months ahead may hold. For many it is a time to set goals for the future of things that we might like to achieve, or do, or see, or experience. It also comes with the traditional new years question: What is your New Years resolution?
    Perhaps you enjoy making a new years resolution, and perhaps you’ve spend some time pondering what new leaf you intend to turn over this year. Maybe you’ve given up on new years resolutions, resigning to the feeling of inevitable failure in reaching a goal under the weight of so many other failed resolutions in the past - if so you are not alone.
    A new year does naturally carry with it hope and possibility for what could be or what might be, so we get caught between the worlds of hopefulness and lived reality that could lead us to apathy in regards to the future, personal growth, and desired change that seems out of reach.
    Maybe it’s time for a new approach - or maybe just a more Christ-centered one.
