Who we are...

​Delta Christian Church is a part of the Restoration Movement. This movement began among churches that had a great desire to promote unity among believers and to let go of the denominationalism and sectarianism that had torn churches apart for so long.

As a part of that movement we desire to be a church who's focus is on Christ and the Word of God, who practices that which is commanded in scripture, and who's sole authority comes from Christ. It has been said many times that our only book is the Bible, our only creed is Christ. We desire to follow Christ, proclaim the freedom found in Him, and to be characterized by love for Him and one another.

What we are here to do...

We know that Jesus created the Church and is the head of the Church.  As the authority over the Church, Jesus gave us our mission and holds us accountable for it’s achievement.  The mission of the church can be found succinctly in two statements that Jesus made.  The Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

About God
     God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has lived forever in different persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These are one God.  God the Father cares for all He has made and is revealed to us through His Word.

About Jesus Christ
     He is the Son of God, God in the flesh, God revealed!  He is one with the Father.  Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin named Mary, and lived a sinless human life.  He was fully God and fully Man.  He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross.  
     He was raised from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.  He ascended to Heaven where He lives and works on our behalf.  He promised to return personally again someday to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.

About The Holy Spirit
     He is one with the Father and the Son of God.  The Spirit of God is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ.  He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation.  He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.  God gives every believer spiritual gifts to serve Him.
     We also believe in the bodily resurrection of those who have not been saved by Christ.  People were created to exist forever in one of two conditions.  Those who have not asked or chosen to become saved by Christ will exist eternally separated from God, experiencing conscious separation and punishment in Hell.
     Those who have asked and decided to let Christ save them will exist eternally with God in Heaven, enjoying an everlasting relationship with Him.  The Scriptures teach that Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

About This Church
     Delta Christian Church is part of The Restoration Movement within Christ’s Church, which for nearly two centuries has pleaded for the unity of all God’s people as one body.  Membership in this local church is based on faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Since profession of faith and baptism into Christ are commanded by our Lord and His apostles in the New Testament, they are our primary qualifications for membership in the formal congregation.
     Delta Christian Church is an independent body led from within the congregation itself.  While we don’t see ourselves as a denomination, we do participate with sister churches in projects and programs that exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and spread the message of salvation through Christ. We are not the only Christians, but choose to be known as Christians only. We are forgiven sinners growing toward spiritual maturity.
     The name Christian Church communicates two important aspects of who we are.  By the name “Church,” it is important to know that we are not a building, but a group of people whose lives are committed to Christ and to each other.  By the name “Christian,” it is important to know that we belong to Christ. Christ is our head.

About People
     People are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character.  People are the supreme object of God’s creation.  Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God, called “sin”.  This condition separates people from God eternally and causes many problems in life, including our own eventual spiritual death.  But because people are God’s most special creation, His heart and love goes out for us...and good thing too…He is the only one who could bridge this separation, and defeat the death which looms ahead of us and around us!

About Salvation
     Because of God’s love for people, God rescued us and saved us from the consequences of sin. God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross as the sacrifice and substitute to satisfy God’s wrath against the sins of all people.  
     Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.  We can never make up for our sins by our own effort, self-improvement or good deeds.  Salvation is God’s free gift to us and is maintained through the undeserved favor and power of God.  We must accept His gift through faith.  
     The Bible teaches that we express our faith in Jesus Christ by believing, trusting, and confessing Him as our Lord and Savior, repenting of our self-directed life and being baptized into His name.  When we put our faith in Jesus Christ as the Scriptures teach, we are forgiven of our sins, born again of the Holy Spirit, and inherit eternal life.

​About Baptism 
     We believe that commitment to Christ in belief is to be accompanied by publicly identifying with Christ through baptism by immersion.  Baptism (the immersion of a repentant believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) has from the beginning of the church been the norm for believers and the church.  People who heard and believed the gospel repented of their sins, confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and were then baptized into Christ.

About The Lord's Supper (Communion)
     We believe in the Scriptural observance of the Lord’s Supper, or Communion.  At each weekend service it serves as the center of our worship because it is done in remembrance of the death of Jesus. Any follower of Jesus Christ is invited to participate in the Lord’s Supper.  It is an expression of the unity of Christ’s Body and a consistent remembrance of our Lord Jesus Christ.

About The Unity of the Church
     We believe that Christian unity is the result of the fact that, in reconciling us to Himself, God joins us to one another by His Spirit.  We are part of a restoration movement of non-denominational churches which desires a united church, strong in its commitment to the Bible alone as the church’s guide to faith and practice.  
     Christian unity is not only a gift to be treasured; it is also a goal to be attained.  While our Lord has given us the gift of being one in the forgiveness of the cross, our goal is to attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ as we pursue unity in our faith and fellowship.  In the essentials of the faith we strive for unity, in the non-essentials of the faith we allow for diversity, and in all things, we strive to show love for each other.

About the Second Coming of Jesus Christ 
     We believe in the bodily, visible return of Jesus Christ for His followers to be with Him forever.  And just as Christ did not claim to know when that day would be, we will make no claims to know when that day is either.  But we will live life, love and worship God as a church, and be alert and prepared as if that day would happen today.

About Satan
     We believe that Satan is real.  He is a spiritual entity who can speak to God and others, tempt people, plan and scheme against God’s glory, and accuse believers.  The Old and New Testaments both attest to the reality of Satan.  Even Christ himself faced Satan.  Just as Christ overcame Satan’s attacks, Jesus can help us in our struggle against the evil schemes and temptations we face as Christ’s followers.  Satan can lead anyone not committed to Christ (angelic beings or people) in warfare against God, His plans, and His people.  But the Scriptures promise that Satan and all who are with him are less powerful than Christ and are doomed to a certain, everlasting judgment from God.

About Eternity
     We believe that God’s intention has always been to live with people eternally in an intimate relationship. Through faith in His Son, we can live in that kind of relationship with Him forever, even after we die!  We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus the Christ and we also believe in the bodily resurrection of those who are saved by Him through their faith in Him.

About The Church
     We believe the Church is the body of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to do the will of God according to the Word of God.  Through faith in Christ we are members of the church in a universal sense, and we practice that membership in the church locally.  Believers humbly submit themselves to Christ and the leadership which He has established in the church.  Believers belong to one another and take care of one another, and use their time, talents, and treasure to serve the church and the world.  The Church’s mission is the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, to “go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

About the Bible
     The Bible is God’s Word to us.  Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of God’s Spirit, wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.  Because God inspired it, it is the truth without error.

Our Core Values

1. We’re Already Friends
1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Hebrews 13:1-2, ESV)
We strive to treat every person that we come into contact with like we are already friends, now all we have to do is get to know one another!

2. Love The Family
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35, ESV)
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9-10, ESV)
We make every effort to demonstrate the love of Jesus in a special “above and beyond” way for all those who are members of the Body.

3. Help The Lost
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers…by chance a priest was going down that road, and…passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite…passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan…bound up his wounds…set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him…Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” (Luke 10:29-37, ESV)
While we may not be able to solve everyone’s problems, we can always find ways of helping the lost. Either through teaching and training in areas of needed learning, working alongside in areas where service and assistance are needed, or offering extra resources when it is appropriate, we can provide help to the lost leading to an introduction to Jesus and His gospel.

4. Hop The Fence
3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. 4 And he had to pass through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob's well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”… (John 4:3-7ff, ESV)
We refuse to allow barriers to separate us from one another. Whether it means crossing the room, the street, or town we seek to break down the barriers that divide for the sake of the gospel.

5. Use The Lever
9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace… (1 Peter 4:9-10, ESV)
Rather than trying to muscle our way to Kingdom growth with human strength we want to leverage the Spiritual Gifts that God has provided to overcome obstacles and achieve greater Kingdom Advancement.

6. Sacrifice To Win
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13, ESV)
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. (1 John 3:16, ESV)
The mission that Jesus gave us is not one that can be accomplished from an easy chair. We choose to embrace personal sacrifice, laying our lives down for one another, in order to secure victories wherever we can for the glory of God and the cause of Christ.

7. Wear Out The Towels
4 …[Jesus] laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. (John 13:4-5, ESV)
Jesus hasn’t called us to a service project, He’s called us to a life of service, to become the servant of all, to wash dirty feet! There is no end to the opportunity for serving the Church and the lost and there is no limit to the glory that can be won for God through our humble service.
